Hi Craftster, long time no see.  I got a few Halloween costume commissions this year, and I thought I'd share this one with you.  The brief was a Witch Princess dress, for an 8-year-old girl.  She wanted it to be orange and black, with a big poofy skirt and poofy sleeves.  I got some fabric together and this is what I came up with:

The basic orange dress is overlaid with two types of lace, a normal one for the bodice, and a spidery Halloween one from JoAnn's on the skirt.

I used some black ribbon to make the 'corset' detail on the front and some (truly crummy) scalloped lace trim for the neckline and sleeves.

For the skirt I really got my Craftster mind working and bought some plastic spider rings at the dollar store, and tacked them where the lace was gathered in pretty-princess style.

Hopefully, I'll have some pictures of the princess herself to edit in to this post soon.  Let me know what you think, Craftster!  I had so much fun on this one!

Love the spider ring idea! The whole dress looks great. One little girl I'm sure is going to be very happy. Smiley
