This year my  six year old son decided he wanted to be the Matt Smith version of Dr Who. I was more than happy with his choice and set out to acquire the pieces needed for an accurate Dr Who.

The pieces in this outfit were from thrift shops and eBay, except the bow tie. I made the bow tie following a tutorial on youtube by the sewing guru. However, every piece with the exception of the shirt required tailoring. The pants had to be hemmed as well as taking in the width of the legs. I had to take up the sleeves of the jacket. The suspenders were actually two pairs of adult suspenders one of which I used the hardware and the other I used the elastic. I also scuffed the shoes with sandpaper as they were purchased new from Target. The sonic screwdriver was purchased online.

My son was pretty pleased with the costume although we were all disappointed I was unable to find a tweed jacket. His ended up being corduroy, because apparently finding a tweed jacket in childrens size that is the right shade and only two buttons is very difficult. Although I did not make this from scratch I did put a fair amount of labor tailoring the pieces to make them a appear more like Dr Who.

Please feel free to leave your questions and comments about this costume.

Also if anyone knows where to get a Dr Who type tweed jacket in children sizes please let me know.  Wink

Will do personal swap for pogs, Polly Pockets (the little ones) and Gameboy Advance Games. PM me if interested!
