I am a long time fan of Craftster, but as of yet, I have never posted any of my projects. Call it  a lack of time, a lack of guts, or a combination of the two. I can tend to be shy. Undecided Also, sorry there are no pictures of the process. I didn't think I was going to post. Anyway...so the day before Halloween my boyfriend finally told me what he would like to be.

"Edward Scissorhands!" he exclaimed.
An Edward Scissorhands costume in 24 hours. I knew it would be a challenge, so I hopped right up and got to work. I rummaged through all of my old costume stuff, pulled out the bag that was headed to Goodwill and pulled any scrap junk from my craft room. I ended up with a pair of leather and black denim pants that I had made for a previous costume, four pairs of beat-up old faux leather boots, a few belts, and various metal odds and ends from the craft room. Excited I set to work.

I tore apart the boots and started piecing together the jacket on a dress form. First the sleeves, then working my way across the back and then around the body. Every half hour or so calling my boyfriend in for a fitting. I probably worked for 13 hours straight, but Halloween makes me excited, so I didn't mind. By about 11:00 that night the jacket was fully formed, but I still had quite a bit to do. The next morning I jumped out of bed and got to work. The day before I had pulled anything metal and shiny from my crafting collection. Mostly rings of various sizes. After I attached the rings and other metal bits to the jacket things really started to come together. I mended the pants in the spots where it was needed and called my boyfriend in to try it on. During this final fitting I stitched belts and other embellishments on to the pants and boots. Oh! I forgot! The day before I outlined scissors on a thin piece of plywood and cut them out with a jig saw. I then covered the blade part in duct tape and the handle part in electrical tape.  I then attached them to some old work gloves with duct tape. Anywhoo, 24 hours after the idea was conceived, we had a beautiful homemade costume. Even better than that, all of my craft supply "hoarding" was finally justified. My boyfriend made out with an absolutely free costume. He only had to buy makeup.

I am new to Craftster and can't upload pictures, so please check out my links and let me know what you think.

P.S. There was a down side. I only had a couple hours to throw together a costume for myself. I went as Wednesday Addams. The up side...my costume was free too.
Happy Crafty Thrifty Halloween!

Okay, first of all, you are a genius. And second, your BF is a punk for only giving you 24 hours notice. WOW!

I agree with the boyfriend is a punk comment  Cheesy and I have to say this is impressive. This would be impressive even without the 24 hour time limit but that you pulled it together that quickly is astonishing.
