I...I don't think we survived that crash.
My girlfriend and I were
Adam and Barbara Maitland from Beetlejuice when they try to scare the Deetzes from their home. This has been something I've wanted to do FOREVER but had never been able to motivate someone else to my level of Halloween madness. Until this year!
The handmade portions are: the masks, the book (altered, new cover with linen printed "Handbook for the Recently Deceased" and side "Deceased"), the shirt (Colette Negroni pattern), the dress (refashioned from long sleeves and a 4X to an L with shorter sleeves and hemline), and the eyeballs. We worked on this for about 2 months in bits and pieces after work.
And we are in
this Youtube video a minute in from the West Hollywood Halloween Carneval. It was insane there!

Materials used were: aluminum sculpture wire for the armature, screen door mesh (which is super sharp and pokey!), zip ties to hold to armature, paper mache with Elmer's glue and strips of news paper, drywall plaster (the kind that comes in a bag that you mix yourself with water - not the thick spackle in little jars), felt, sculpey for the teeth, a plastic glove stuffed with tin foil, spraypaint, mixed housepaint for the skin tones and stretch lines, lots of sandpaper, ping pong balls, cut up hair extensions, E6000, pantyhose and tears. My Barbara mask weighed 9 pounds and her Adam mask was 4.
I can't wait for next Halloween! I have no idea how I'm going to outdo this year's, and I'm kind of sad it's done and over. But I learned a whole heck of a lot building this (i.e., Paperclay is the devil and chunky and heavy. My mask is so huge because I had to cover the botched, un-sandable paperclay with a new layer of plaster to make it smooth
