Finally, in my senior year of univeristy, i get to move into a house with real live furniture that is all my own!  The problem i ran into was..  where to get the furniture and how to make it rad.  SO, a few weeks later with a free dresser compliments of my dad's coworker, and a few swirls of paint, this is the final creation!

i'm so proud!

Now, for the hard part...  figuring out what to do with "The Ugly One" i picked up at a garage sale.

I've done the sanding and priming so when i finally figured out what to do with it, i could get started right away!  In essence, i want it to match my dresser.  I bought black and silver starred material and WalMart to mod podge onto the inside of the shelf part (the part that's not primed) and was thinking of podging on some pink paint chips to the top of it, but i need some more sweet idears.  Please, please, help!!  I know it has some serious potential, but my creative juices are definitely drained .....    Wink       thanks bunches in advance!

oh ps, this is my first post.  yay!

I don't know where this came from so yeah, but what about padding the top w/ some fabric to match your other dresser. Like get some quilt padding or something and use spray adhesive to attach the padding and fabric.(or something along those lines)

btw, your dresser looks so flippin' awesome!

WOW that is amazing! I am very impressed it looks so professional. As for the "The Ugly One" I think you should definatly stick with the same theme but maybe go with different pictures. You should watch Grease for inspiration you could have like old american cars and lightning painted on! That would look really cool!

that looks wonderful, did you paint all the checker board pattern by hand? you've inspired me to recreate some of my old furniture!

yup, everything was done by hand.  (well, with a little help from my pal masking tape for the checkers.)  It took For Ever, but was well worth it!  I even took themakup pic myself back in HS for a photography class.

I LOVE your dresser.  I've got a horrid white dresser that needs a makeover.  It's screaming to be painted pink, but I don't think my boyfriend would go for it.   The things you give up for boys...sigh...

You should do a "what little boys are made of" theme.

Yes, V. Cyanide and GemJams hit it -- paint a convertible with big fins across the two doors. Write "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails" on the drawers. Black top, with maybe a pink-and-white checkerboard on the flat surface just below the top.

Nice work on Dresser #1! Inspirational.
