For Halloween this year I really wanted to be princess peach so I decided to make my own costume for the first time ever. I'm not a fan of full length dresses for costumes and I wasn't going to wear any skimpy dress that would practically show my butt either. I made my dress knee-length which is my favorite length for dresses.

I normally don't like to wear pink, but I absolutely love this dress! I based the bodice off of another dress I had and the skirt portion is an (almost) full circle skirt. I actually made two versions of the dress, a light pink one and a dark pink one. The dark pink one became the lining of the dress. I made the dark pink layer longer than the light pink layer so that I could create the look of Peach's skirt, but with two separate layers instead of sewing a dark pink band onto the bottom of the light pink skirt.

The petticoat I based off of the tutorial found here:
http://sugardale.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-to-make-petticoat.html
I changed the length and the puffiness so I could get the fullness I wanted for my costume.

Here are some close-ups of my crown, bracelet, ring, and petticoat:

I'm really happy with how my costume turned out seeing as it's my first time making my own costume.

"I wasn't going to wear any skimpy dress that would practically show my butt either. I made my dress knee-length which is my favorite length for dresses." ---That made me smile. I totally agree. There is something darling about a knee length circle skirt.

Great job! Much better then the store bought booty version! The accessories are very cute!
