Any craftsters in Las Cruces?

I'll be moving to Las Cruces soon so that I can go to NMSU.  I'd really like to get to know a few people before school starts so that I don't feel completely out of place.  So if you're there please let me know.  A girl can never have enough crafty friends!  Oh, anyone know if there is a SnB in Cruces?  Thanks!

Well, nearly a year has passed since the question was asked, but Yes there are two or three craftsters in Las Cruces. I am Gregory's cherished girlfriend. =)

Whoa!  How come I have this thread bookmarked and notifications set up and all that snazzy stuff and I missed the last two posts!  What is that about!  Anyway...so great to see more NMSU craftsters!  Now that its summer I actually have time on my hands...if anyone wants to get together or talk or whatever send me a pm sometime.

I work for NMSU...  Does that still count? 

I realize it's been awhile since the last posts, but I recently (last night, actually...) heard about a knitting/crochet group that meets at Hastings on Tuesday mornings.  Do any of you all attend?  I work full-time so I can't go.   The guy who told me about it mentioned Stitch 'n' Bitch, but it wasn't clear whether that was the Hastings group or another group.

Hastings has an SnB group?  i'm from Las Cruces (left LC 3 yrs ago and moved to Colorado) and when i was there we never had anything cool like that!

For what it's worth I'm still here... And I will be for the forseeable future.  My hubby and I are actually starting to think about getting a house here.

My husband does contract work here, but it's beginning to look like we might be here for awhile to come yet.  I'm not quite ready to admit to it as Las Cruces isn't exactly my dream city, but it's a nice enough place to spend a few years.

Ah, I see. I'm rather partial to the city, but I grew up here, so it's all nostalgia.   I can definitely understand why others aren't as enamored of it as I am, though.  I was recently told that we've been featured in some top-10 list of great places to retire, and I'm still a bit puzzled by that one.  I'd figure retirees would want some place a bit bigger and with more going on, but what do I know?

And on a more craft related subject, I've been thinking for months that I'd love to take a drawing class (I couldn't draw myself out of a paper bag), and that I should check out the community college to see if they have cheap classes.  I finally looked them up, and they have quite a few crafty classes, including drawing, under their community education section.  Their schedule is here, if you're interested (though be warned, it's a rather large PDF file).  There's a beginning drawing class that starts next month, so I think I'm going to sign up!

Not sure why I haven't posted here before but I've lived here for 4 years now and my hubby works on campus. I stay at home with our 2 boys and get crafty when I can!
