The Frizz from The Magic School Bus!

Here’s my Halloween costume this year.  It was a big hit at the Halloween Party I went to on Friday! Everybody came up to me and told me about how Magic School Bus was their favorite show/books as a kid, or how all they knew about science came from the Magic School Bus!   I wish I could get my hair to poof more like the Frizz....It used to be super poofy when I was back in Humid ol' Illinois, but Montana is so dry!

Anyhow, I found a few yards of the planetary fabric fairly cheap on eBay, and once I saw it, I know I had to be The Frizz!  I made the dress based off of Simplicity 3673, and added the purple Peter Pan collar.

To give it some poof I made the petticoat (based off of the tutorial at this site
http://sugardale.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-to-make-petticoat.html).  The little shoe rockets I just made out of clay and attached to my dress shoes.

But I am especially proud of the Saturn earrings.  They’re just wooden beads painted gold.  I drilled a hole, put the copper wire through, and wrapped it around like the rings of Saturn!  I like them enough that I will probably wear them anytime, not just with the costume.

And no Frizzle is complete without the Magic School Bus (Shrunk to purse size of course, using the shrinker-scope).  I just kind of winged this one.  A little bit of math, googley eyes, some acrylic paint for the bus details, and some quilt batting, and I made a decent bus-shaped purse!

Essentially, Liz is the only thing I didn’t make (I found her online).

And of course - The Real Frizz!

I did not make Liz, I have zero experience making plushes, so I decided to buy one instead of attempt one this Halloween.

I found it on eBay for $10-$15 and figured that it was worth it, considering how much I love Magic School Bus anyways!
