I know there are going to be some awesome entries but this is the first time I've ever had an eligible entry to enter, plus I'm proud of my efforts so here we go.  My daughter loves Ponyo and asked if she could dress up as her for Halloween.  I thought to myself, "I can sort of sew, why not?"

I made her dress using a classic Western style dress pattern, Simplicity 6309.  I added a Mandarin collar and shortened the dress considerably so her bloomers would show.  I made her bloomers using a Whimsy Couture pattern (http://www.whimsycoutureboutique.blogspot.com/), but I added a lot more width so her bloomers would be really full. I actually probably could have added more width but I was using some white cotton that I purchased from our local SCRAP store and only had enough to make one pair.  I also made her a felt ham (my own design) to carry around since Ponyo loves HAM!!  Add one green bucket and a very happy little girl and voila: PONYO!

Ponyo wants HAM!

Tiny little fishy, who could you really be?

Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, Magic sets you free.

Our backyard is perhaps better suited to Little Red Riding Hood.  We want to head to the beach at some point and get some ocean shots of little Ponyo.

Thanks for checking out my post.  Next year, Aria says she wants to be the Ghost Rider with a skull face and fire hat.  Heh.  I better get started now if I want to figure that one out.  Wink

Too cute!  I knew exactly who she was from the thumbnail.  You did a terrific job, and she's an adorable Ponyo.

I was thinking about making my daughter Mei from Totoro next year, but I might just have to make her Ponyo after seeing this! Though admittedly, she does have more of Mei's face shape Wink

Mei would be SUPER cute.  I was thinking about Kiki but Aria was way more into Ponyo so Ponyo it was.
