For this year, I made my 18 month-old little dude a Lego Buzz Lightyear costume. I followed a couple of tutorials I found on the internet to build the body, but had to modify the helmet due to the original material listed was too heavy for a tot, so I used thick cardboard instead. The helmet is a cardboard cylinder with foam circles on top. The body is a modified cardboard diaper box. I used LOADS of masking tape and inicially tried to use spray paint, but had to change to acrylic paints because I didn't find in time a tutorial on how to prime cardboard, so you can tell the difference between spray paint (looks shinny) and acrylic (looks opaque). Overall, I liked it. I would change a few things if I had more time, but this year it will have to stay this way.

It wasn't that time consuming, except waiting for the paint to fully dry and a few modifications I had to make along the way, but overall it's an easy costume anyone can make. My toddler is too impatient and active to pull the whole lego costume off, so I decided on the upper body and head only. Too bad he had a nasty claustrophobic meltdown inside it, so I'm not sure he will let me dress him up for Halloween. Anyway, here it is. Hope you like it.

Freakin sweet.  This is at least 4 times better than a regular Buzz Lightyear.  Well done you

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.

Don't worry, it's just a plastic boob.
