I'm visiting San Francisco soon, woohoo! I have been there before, so I know my way around a little, but I won't have a car to go very far. Where are the crafty places that you would recommend?

Welcome to SF!

1. I highly recommend getting a day or a week pass and a transit map (I think $2 at any Walgreens in town, or you can download the PDF and use it electronically): http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mmaps/indxmaps.htm.

2. My favorite places to stop for craft inspiration (and supplies) - easily accessible from downtown (which is where I am assuming you'll be staying):

Daiso: There are several locations in SF - the biggest one is in Japantown (says Peace Plz, but also accessible from Post)

Ichiban Kan: Same building as the Daiso in Japantown

General Bead: If you don't mind cats, LARGE supply!

Liz Palacios: Great space for all kinds of beads, vintage findings and charms.

Stanislaus Imports: Kinda hard to spot, but if you see the parking structure for Rainbow Grocery across the street (separated by a freeway bridge), you've found it.

Flax: I love the paper room!!!

SCRAP (a little tougher to get to as the other places, but very easy on bus and really worth the trip!)

Thrift Town: (my favorite thrift store in town - go upstairs... oh, and there's a great dollar store across the street)
2101 Mission Street
San Francisco, CA 94110 (at 17th St)

Have fun visiting!!!
