To start with balls does help to understand about the structure, how to be regular and such.
And then you can make a necklance or bangle with it.

There are a lot of ways to begin learning needle felting. You'll find all sorts of resources on the web - tutorials, books, classes, kits. A kit is often a good way to start because it provides fiber and needles and instructions with a minimum investment. Needle felting is very versatile and fun!!
