Vintage Halloween Decor!

I made this recently for this years round of vintage Halloween! My partner, KarenLouiseM, mentioned her love for the craft of the wonderful rackycoo and posted a link in her questionnaire to this project: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=199329.msg2115700#msg2115700

...which this cat is most definitely based on. It was my first time working with paper clay which is AWESOME. And it was also my first time painting a folky kind of face like that which was intimidating at first (cause painting is not my favorite) but it was SO easy when there's no pressure to look perfect.




















The book form I got at A.C. Moore- it came brown and I painted it black and used gold paint to give it some vintage flair. The pumpkins I cut from card stock, the tiny bats are made from a dollar paper punch from A.C. Moore, the cat and candy corns are made from paper clay, and the tree is wire wrapped with yarn. And nearly EVERYTHING is covered with Modge Podge!

How super!  I love all the details and the retro look!  The buttons on the cover of the 'book' are fabulous.  I always feel a pang of jealousy whenever I see all the cool crafts folks come up with - I'm more of a pattern-following person myself.    I need to lose my fear of experimentation!
