Here is the Final product! I built a lot of floral pieces for the hair including several small painted sugar skulls that I made for the hair.  I used three large curly hair extension claw thingys to make my hair that huge and that long. The hair took me an hour and the make up for myself an hour and then for my husband as well which was another hour! So I didn't end up wearing my fake eyelashes at all because I didn't have time to put them on! We were running a little late for the party by the time I got everything together!

My husband - the romantic genius - came up with the rose between the teeth.  I was really impressed. We also had planned a top hat, but we lost it somewhere in our house.. which is ridiculous! I am sure we will find it tomorrow!

The Corset I got for 30$ from UK Corsets ( a steal!) and the skirt I got for 6 bucks from good will.

So that's what it turned out like! Thank you SO MUCH for all of the advice!

So this is my practice run for Halloween, however, I am not really satisfied! I don't know what to do on my forehead! I was thinking another rose, or a skull? I have these HUGE red roses I am putting in my hair, so that's why I went with that on the chin. When I did this trial run, I wasn't sure what to do on the forehead, and I am not a total fan of the spiderweb that I have seen so often used in this design, so I kind of just did lines.. but they don't cut it for me... Hence why they really aren't totally finished...

Also If I use fake eyelashes - Do I need to put them on before I put the black around the eyes or after? no clue here.

Any suggestions?

I think it looks awesome already!  Really, really impressive.

I don't have any suggestions for the forehead, but I know something about false eyelashes (I belly dance and wear them with ridiculous amounts of black eyeliner).  A lot of people say that you should put them on before makeup because supposedly they adhere better. However, I always put them on after... I've never had a problem with them staying on, but in case I do I would rather have makeup on underneath them.  That way if one should fall off I won't have a big makeup-less line where it was.  I usually put a bit of extra eyeliner on top of them too, just to hide any glue smudges.  And yes, I have spent too much time considering false eyelash application!  Smiley

I was JUST watching tutorials for this on youtube last night!

Lots of people use a heart on the forehead, google images for some more inspiration. Can't wait to see your whole costume, I hope you'll post it.

hmmm... Okay thank you... about the fake lashes... I think I like the idea of afterwards as well, because that is an excellent point about having just bare skin if they fall off.

Also,  I do like the idea of the heart, and I too spent a good deal of time watching make-up tutorials on You-tube last night! It was fun though, I kind of want halloween to be here NOW.. I just love this holiday.

Some people also do crowns, crosses, or swirls. Or you could do an eyeball.. whatever you want really.

Speaking of Catrina, did you see the threadbangers youtube tutorial with the cute hat? Totally adorable. In a creepy way.

Thanks for the tips, I looked everything up! I feel ashamed that I didn't know the actual terms for everything, but that's what you get for being a canadian... we don't learn spanish as a second language we learn french, so thanks so much for educating my ignorant self!  Merci Beaucoup!  Also the threadbangers tutorial was very cool, and creepy... Good times...
