Has anyone used digital painting software - such as Corel Painter Essentials for example? I'm just wondering if anyone's had some good results using a photograph and making a digital painting from it? I'm thinking of doing it as a present for someone.

You can do lots of neat artistic effects with Photoscape. I use it for lots of things. It's a free program. Smiley

Honestly, the best bet if your serious about digital painting, is investing in a tablet. I strongly believe that you can use any kind of program, free, expensive, whatever, as long as you have the right tool. I would recommend a Wacom, and hey, you don't even need a large one!

I use SketchBook Pro on my iPad, and it is wonderful and intuitive, and there is a free version that has most of the features of the full.

I did this using the free version, Gwen Stefani.

Good luck Smiley
