For the Mini 13 Days of Halloween Swap, I made my partner's little girls some felt candy corn bags for trick-or-treating or to fulfill any general Halloween carrying needs. ^_^
I've seen them elsewhere on the interwebs, but I didn't use anyone's pattern to make these. I just made it up as I went. I did however save the pieces, so eventually I might add a pattern to go along with this if anyone is interested. But here is my bag, and the steps I took to get there. (some of the steps, of course, don't require pictures, but I'm a picture hound so I'm posting 'em!) And yes, I know, the colors aren't in the right order. But, I wouldn't have had enough of the yellow to do both of them if I hadn't done it this way. ^_^ Yay for improvising!
To start with I just drew the general shape and size of the bag that I wanted onto a cut up paperbag. I allowed for seem allowance. I just divided it up for the three colors. Here is the first section with the paperbag pattern still attached. Its the bottom part of the bag. And the yellow section, as well.
Here are all the pieces cut out and laid out ready to be sewed together.
I pinned together the top and middle pieces, and sewed them together. I'm pretty sure I gave them a 1/2 seem.
I did the same with the middle and bottom pieces. The same was done to the second set.
Here are the the two panels with the colors sewed together.
After that, I ironed the seems down to make it easier to sew the two panels together. I also folded over an inch of the top edge over and ironed it down so that I could close up the top.

As you can see, I just aligned my foot with the edge of the fabric and sewed. That's what they look like with the tops all sewn up!
I then pinned the two panels together, seems out, along the edge.
Here it is all sewn together! I snipped off the corners and any extra fabric so that it looks nicer when its turned right-side out.
Here it is turned the right side. What's left is to add a handle. You can do the handle however you want. I used more felt. Before I added a handle though, my husband grabbed it and put it on his head and declared it a hat! LOL! So, if you were always wanting a candy corn hat, then you are done! ^_^
I attached it to the bag, and sewed it on, trying to keep my seems the same.
Then voila! You have a candy corn bag!
