100% acetate ribbon is really good for that.  It still does wrinkle a little, but smoothes out really easily.  Acetate is a little shinier (in general) and just has the ribbon belt look. Regular grosgrain ribbon is matte and is not as sturdy.  Hope that helps!

I finally got around to making one of these myself with my vintage-like owl ribbon. I'm wearing it today!

I made a bunch of these for lil girls  we took there wasit size added 2 inches for timming, folding etc & 4 inches to give a nice little tail & a little room for growth.  =)

I found a great ribbon site in my several month long quest for grosgrain.  They even have the cutie ones with whales and pineapples and stuff!!!  They sell the D rings and rhinestone buckles too.
