Dessert tray, super easy to make!

hello all. I picked up some plates at Goodwill and a candlestick at the dollar store, and this is what came out of it!



Here's another I made (one-tiered):



Obviously you don't have to use them for desserts, that's simply what inspired me to make these. I use mine for jewelry and other random trinkets which were littered on my desk.

I like the second one better. Though, I am tempted to say with some modding involved (paint? rhinestones? Other cooler ways of modding that are escaping me right now?) the first could be super awesome. They even have food safe painting supplies, if you want to spend money that is.

 I do actually have another identical to the first, only with red&white ribbon around the edge of the top plate. and with beads and things inside the vacant space between the bottom plate &  the bottom of the candlestick. I guess that's kind of hard to imagine without a picture xD, but I will be sure to spice them up more next round, thanks!

My grandmother had the plates in the top picture or atleast some so similar that it reminds me of them,  .  I like the plate stands. 

I've made some similar before.  I've also made candle holders that were similar.  Another good place to look for stands is at your local dollar store.  They often have ice cream sundae cups that work well.  Just make sure and turn them upside down first to be sure that they are level (its the dollar store, they aren't known for their quality products, LOL).  The dollar store is also a good place to look for candle stick holders for the stands.

Did you use high temp hot glue or low temp?  I've made them with low temp before and they don't stay together long.  I haven't tried high temp.  I switched to (I think) E-6000, and they stayed together well.

Can you tell I love making these?  I haven't made any in a while though.  I might just have to do that after I get my craft room painted and get my Christmas gifts finished up and, and, and <sigh>.  Its always something.

I used high temp, and they're still holding after a few months. but the plates I used aren't very heavy .
And yes , they are fun to make a lot of room for variation
