Thanks!  Some stuff I figured out was that bobby pins are great to use to hold the leather pieces together prior to sewing them up.  You're not supposed to use regular pins because they'll leave holes in the leather.  Also, go slow.  I broke many a needle because I was getting impatient about the bag getting completed.  I also found that the leather I had didn't want to easily move through the sewing machine.  It was getting kind of stuck to the presser foot, so some of the stitching is all out of wack.  Towards the end of the purse I had the brilliant idea of covering the bottom side of the presser foot with a little but of painters tape and it actually helped with the leather sticking.  Hope these tips help!

Oh no, you didn't sew this with a regular sewing machine foot?! D'oh. There is a special foot for that made of teflon (it's white plastic), it allows leather and plastic (aka sticky fabrics) to slide under the foot without issue.

Now I am doubly impressed though, that you did such a wonderful job even without the proper tools. Very nice, impressively completed and thoroughly enviable. I'm tempted to give it a go myself, I think it turned out great.
