As Halloween is fast approaching I thought I'd make myself a few little decorations! This is the first, Bartimus the bat!

His hobbies include flapping, being upside-down, and miniature golf


I've been asked to make another one for a customer on my facebook page so if anyone is interested in a pattern I will write it down.
As some people expressed interest (thank you!) here is the pattern! Feel free to make as many as these as you like to give to friends or family or to sell locally, but please don't sell them online as I plan on doing this myself when I get around to setting up my Etsy :-)
Materials
A small amount of black yarn
4mm crochet hook
2 safety eyes (I use 9mm)
Tiny amount of grey yarn for the nose
Darning needle.
Head
R1. Ch2, Sc 6 in 2nd ch frm hk
R2. Inc all round (12)
R3. Sc in first st, inc in 2nd, rpt rnd. (18)
R4. Sc in first 2 st, inc in next, rpt rnd (24)
R5: Sc in first 3 st, inc in next, rpt rnd (30)
R6: Sc in first 4 st, inc in next, rpt rnd (36)
R7-11: Sc all round
R12: Sc in first 4st, dec over next 2 st, rtpt rnd (30)
R13: Sc in first 3st, dec over next 2 st, rpt rnd (24)
R14: Sc in first 2st, dec over next 2 st, rpt rnd (18)
R15: Sc in first st, dec over next 2 st, rpt rnd (12)
Turn the crochet piece inside out, Insert safety eyes and stuff firmly
R16: Dec all round (6)
Dec around until hole is closed, weave in any ends.
Body

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to attach to head, turn the piece inside out then stuff.
Ears (make 2)
R1. Ch 2, Sc 4 in 2nd ch from hk

R4. Sc in first 2 st, 2 sc in next, repeat once (

Fasten off leaving a long tail to attach to head, turn inside out, do not stuff, just squish flat.
Wings (make 2)
ch 6, work sc in 2nd ch from hook and the one after it, sc 3 in next ch, sc 1 in each of the next 2 chs; ch1 and turn (7 sc)
sc in first 3 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts; ch1 and turn (9 sc)
sc in first 4 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts; ch2 and turn (11 sc)
sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 sts, 3sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts, 3 foundation sc; (16 sc)
ch 1, and turn
sc in next 9 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts; fasten off leaving long tail to fasten to body(19 sc)
To put together, first attach the body to the head. Next, attach the ears and then the wings (attach the wings by sewing the end you fastened off onto the body, should be like a short nub shape! Next, use a small amount of grey (or whatever colour you desire!) yarn to embroider a triangle shape nose!
And there you have your own little bat.
