I am insanely proud of myself. A month ago I didn't know how to crochet at all, but my daughter wanted to get some new craft supplies, so we went to Michaels to pick something out. She saw an amigurumi book and was enchanted, so I figured "Well, she can learn to do that ... how hard can it be?" We bought the book and some hooks. The next day, I went and bought a "learn to crochet" book so I could understand the amigurumi book. Then she got disgusted and gave up, but I became OBSESSIVELY DETERMINED to figure it out.

The instructions in the new book were terrible and had me slip-stitching instead of single crocheting, but I got the Happy Hooker and it finally clicked. I made a couple of scarves and a hat and stuff, and then I was ready for the ultimate challenge:

The amigurumi cheeseburger! Now I've made myself a shawl and want to do some more stuffed toys, and I'm kind of obsessed with lacework. This is why no good can come of a trip to a craft store.

I love your cheeseburger!  I am totally in the same place you were a bit ago.  I want to make all the crochet food and amis but don't know how to crochet.  My daughter keeps asking me but... ahh the time!

I don't know, looks to me like EXTREME awesome has come from your trip to the craft store!  It's always SO tempting to pick up a new project, dangerous, but in this case, excellent!  Cheeseburger!
