I love this one! The frame for it was a lucky junk day find. It's the base to a broken aqua bubbler light, spray painted gold. The red bubble piece at the end is a pomegranate juice bottle. This pic came out kind of dark, need to take another! Part of the black is highlighted in a very nifty gold, but it doesn't seem to be showing up here. red rhinestone squares around the neck of the bottle.

And another! The medallions with the arrow were giant pink and cream 80's earrings, the question mark was from a dead keyboard. The stand was a piece of laminate shelving (yep, junk day!), the inner roller from receipt paper, metal round whatsit, a pizza box triangle plastic bit painted black and beaded.

This one was an  experiment. napkin rings,  another juice bottle, mini cocktail glass, a quilted style light bulb(not visible from this angle), annnd-a Barbie hairdryer. Not entirely happy with this one. *shrug*

And a work in progress. A Vulcan Nerf gun. Picture it yellow and orange! It didn't have the tripod or ammo clip, it doesn't work, it was all of one dollar-so I figured I might as well paint it. Like how it's turning out so far.

Thanks, Ludi! Grin Hee, most of them do start as water pistols. I buy a few new, the rest are thrift store finds or end of season sales. I've got a few new rifle sized ones that were 90% off at the end of last summer, awaiting their  turn. I love embellishing them with random doohickeys. They all end up with umpteen coats of paint on them. I recycle because a, it's fun,and b, I'm cheap and broke. ^_^  I pick up random bits of  metal, and my family saves junk jewelry for me, which helps a lot.
You know something funny? I'll buy fancy new shadowboxes from the store (usually with a coupon, true). But my most popular ones are ones I've taken apart and redecorated from the thrift stores! Go figure.
I'll never get rich doing this, but it pays my way to attend the local scifi con. And I have loads of fun making them, so I'm pretty lucky!
Ludi, you are a craftster extraordinaire. I really admired your Gormengast work.
