This didn't take place on Halloween but I figure it is the best place to put it. We had a horror movie night where most of the movies pertained to zombies and cannibals; so it stands to reason to make the food appropriately themed.

The hardest part was the mashed potato brains (especially to keep them from drying) and the only atrocious failure was the lychee eyes (the green thing at the back) mold. I couldn't find melon or lime jello so I thought I'd be clever and use agar agar. The recipe I used must have been off because it gelled so much it was more akin to ballistic gel than food. But it was creepy looking nonetheless.

Ironically the most elaborate recipe was Gordon Ramsay's apricot pistachio sage stuffing roll. Somehow it seems the gravy in the lab glassware scared people and they barely touched it. I though the meat faces would be more off putting but people greedily stripped them.

And the recipe I am most proud of is the cupcakes since everything was made form scratch and the glass sugar held up far better than I though it would.

Not pictured were some rather mundane meatballs and a blood orange and lemon tart dyed deep red.
