for my mother's birthday, back in august, i was inspired to try something a little fancy.  i searched and searched for recipe similar to what i wanted, and came up with this: 3-layer white cake with raspberry whipped cream topped with ganache.  i used this recipe for the layers, and based my whipped cream on the one here too: http://www.yumsugar.com/Celebrate-Spring-White-Cake-2970478

That cake looks great! I like how it's topped! I bet that's a lot easier than trying to cover it in frosting. Yum! Cheesy

thanks, guys! it was pretty tasty. the cake wasn't super moist cake that you get with a mix (with all the oil), but just moist enough. the raspberry cream wasn't as sweet as i thought it would've been, but it was a neat, tart contrast, and the chocolate just brought it all together.  it was definitely easier than frosting a cake. but, as you can see, i got drizzle-happy and it puddled at the bottom. as i watched it i just hoped it didn't run off the plate!
