The very same sister for whom I made 10+2 stuffed monkeys to go with the "10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" song she teaches the kids in her kindergarten class each year (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=388896.msg4604227#msg4604227), also requested stuffies of the animals from a story called The Mitten. I've never read this book before, but it's by Jan Brett, and it's about a boy who loses a white mitten in the snow, and then lots of forest animals move into the mitten (the little scamps!) She wanted stuffed animals to go along with the story. She plans to make a large mitten for the kids to put the animals into as they read along. Should be pretty cute! I finally finished the animals last weekend and delivered them - my only deadline was to have them done before it got cold outside, because that's when they read this book - during mitten-weather!

Here's the whole gang:

And below are the individual animals:

The Badger:

The Bear:

The Fox:

The Hedgehog:

The Mole:

The Mouse:

The Owl:

The Rabbit

They were a lot more work than I thought - I don't have any experience making stuffed animals, besides the monkeys I made for her before, so I don't know what I was thinking agreeing to this  Smiley- but once I had the design figured out for each animal, it got easier. As always, I learned lessons from each attempt that I got to use in the next creation, and the mole design was the only one I had to scrap and start over with right near the end (the first version looked too much like Digger from Shirt Tails. Shirt Tales? Anyone else remember that cartoon?Smiley.

My sister loved them, and promises to tell me what the kids think of them when they're finally premiered!

Comments/critiques welcome. Thanks for looking!

I love that book! I had it growing up. The illustrator does wonderful work. Your stuffed critters are perfect for it Cheesy I'm glad she is putting together a mitten to go with the whole thing. Great job! (Your monkeys are cute too)

You rock! What a sweet sister you are. Smiley I love the mole the most, I think. They're all so cute though!

Shirt-tales!  Woah!  Haven't thought of that in decades!

Love the hedgehog design.

Yes, I remember the Shirt Tales.  I even had a few that Hardee's was giving away.  So does that reveal me as a child of the 80's?  I never really cared for the cartoon.  I well remember both of my boys having that book read to them in Pre-K and kindergarten.  I have the book now.  It's an awesome book!  I LOVE Jan Brett!  You did such an AWESOME job on all of the animals!  You are an epic plushie artist and an amazing sister!
