So! I've come across a bit of a speed bump in my adventures.

Right now, for all the fitted beanies with designs on them, I use a H sized hook, which s 5.00 mm.

THEORETICALLY, I can make even bigger designs by doubling the size of the pattern and using a hook that's half the size of the one that I'm using now.

Is there any truth to my theory?

I'm currently looking for a hook that's 2.50 mm in size. The smallest one that I currently have is an E hook, which i don't not the size in mm.

Thanks for your help, craftsters!

I don't know if your conversion will work, but a quick swatch will tell you Smiley  2.5mm hook would be between a B or a C- pretty much any craft store like Michael's will sell them.  Good luck!

I just checked my hook collection and the size B I have is 2.25 mm. The next letter size up, C, is showing 2.75 mm. So it looks like there is no 2.5 mm, at least not for Susan Bates (may be different in another brand).

But that's so small that I'm wondering if there's a steel hook in that size. The size 2 I have is 2.25 mm so maybe a size 1 would be 2.5 and if you could use that; I don't have a size 1 so I couldn't check.

But as peihan17 says, it's all a question of whether you can get the same gauge. The only way to find out is to get the hook size you want to work with and make a swatch. If you can't, then you'd need to go up or down accordingly.

I hope that helps. Good luck with your experiment.
