I made these:

These were the inspiration:

I simply took an old pair of cowboy boots, chopped them up and accessorized them. It was quite simple.

Read about it here:

Excellent knock-off job.  They could be in the same catalog. I like the hardcore touches you added. \m/

Yours seriously look SO much better than the shop-bought ones!

When I saw the ones on the model I thought they were the ones you made (I must stop speed-reading and missing vital info!), and I thought, 'Hmm, I much prefer the darker ones with the skull'.

Amazing work  Cheesy

Theirs just look heavy and awkward. Like "look at my giant feet" awkward. Yours look totally bad ass. Like "you know you want me" bad ass.

I've got a version of my own. These boots were one of the only things my mom saved from the 70s, but I've never worn them - they just don't work with me style. But I couldn't throw them away either! This was the perfect solution.

These look so terrific! Trinashere, how did you blacken your mom's boots? The local shoemaker said no when I asked him if he could die a pair of shoes for me Cry.

I just painted them with some outdoor acrylic paint, which has held up pretty nicely so far except for a few spots that rubbed off - so if you do it this way, get used to little touch ups. I even wore them in the rain! I originally went to Michael's looking for leather paint, which my husband used on a project with fantastic results a few years ago, but they didn't carry it anymore and I was too eager and impatient to wait for an online order.

I've seen this becoming a new craZe online. I have to admit very earnestly, that I'm completely smitten with it. My teen years were the Punk/Goth 80s time frame, and we always made our own clothes. I always loved the the bottom portions of Cowboy boots (as my teen daughter says, you love old style wizard shoes) but never really loved the western part of it. This gives way to so many great ideas. Brilliant job.

Pretty sure I've commented here before, but this post has revitalized my lust for boots. (Thanks a lot, I thought that was a habit I'd kicked!  Grin)

For all you fashionistas, what would you wear with these?

I'm only 29, but soooo out of touch with fashion.  I've been in "mom mode" for the past few years and live on jeans and tees.  Might be getting a really sweet job soon, but everyone dresses casual, so thought maybe these could fit in.  For my interview I wore slacks, a sweater, short heeled boots and I was TOTALLY overdressed, lol.

We're in Boston, so western isn't a big thing here, but these are just sooooo delicious.  I agree that OPs are way better than the original. I think I'd want to punk mine up a bit too. Wink
