Idea to block view thru front gate

Hi, I have a chain link front gate that my neighbors conveniently look thru into my back yard. They have a privacy fence up to my gate but constantly look around their fence to look in my backyard. I wanted to make something tall to attach to the front gate that will block the view but not completely. Any ideas!

A couple of things come to mind....
There are vinyl strips you can get from fencing supply stores or fencing businesses. You can weave them thru the spaces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

If you don't have any $$$ you can cut up vinyl blinds for the vinyl strips. Many people toss these, so they can be picked up for free. Maybe to hold them in place, you can use a twist tie (from garbage bags) and randomly poke them through the existing holes in the vinyl slats and anchor them to the wire fencing after weaving them through.

Another free or cheap idea is use fabric cut into wide strips. Weave the strips through the fencing material. If you are good with colours, you could make a "woven" pattern. If you are of Scottish descent, maybe your tartan.

We have chainlink all around and have had to come up with some creative solutions. The slats work well, but you can still sort of see through them. They do make one that is supposed to look like green vines and it is pretty dense so it provides more privacy. It would be expensive to do an entire fence but affordable if you are only doing a gate.

I have seen people fasten bamboo to their fence or even a woven beach mat. 

My friend wanted to cover her gate, so she bought two inexpensive plastic/flannel backed tablecloths from Walmart in a bright color. She trimmed them to fit the gate and sewed them with the flannel together, so that there was plastic on both sides. then she made ties and sewed them to the corners and I think she put two on each side and one in the middle of the top and bottom. Then she tied it to the gate.

I agree with all of the suggestions.  It really depends on what you're looking for, style-wise.  I'd reccomend the woven beach mats and then paint them in the colors/themes to go along with your garden/style.

I noticed this on Friday at our local hospital. They had a chain link fenced in area for sitting and relaxing I guess. Anyway, they had cut up that green outdoor carpet that looks like grass into strips and wove it through the fencing to barricade the wind.
