i'm looking for something fairly specific.. a cylindrical object 2.5-3" long, diameter about 1/8th of an inch, and preferably hollow (though that part's not essential). it needs to be sturdier than paper or cardstock, and either colored silver or paintable. (it's swap-related, so i can't say what i'm doing with it)

if only they made bugle beads that long, they would be perfect.  Undecided
i'm also rubbish at polymer clay, so that's a no-go.

any ideas on what i could use?

Drinking straws that you can cut down?  I guess the question would be do you need them supporting something.

What about those tubes that come with tinker toys?  Papermate pen barrels, again cut down.

If anyone is swapping with me & happens to see any of the Pickup Trucks Forever stamps on their mail - please pop them in the package for me - my hubby would love them!  Huge pre-emptive thanks

You should be able to get piping from a plumbing or electrical supply place, too.
