For Christmas, my bf and I give everyone gift cards. Everyone loves them, but it's boring, and it kills a little bit of the crafter in me to give such bland gifts (usually gift cards to Apple, Amazon, clothing stores, or restaurants). This year, I want to pair the gift cards with a hand made item that complements it.

I was thinking that I could pair homemade sweets with restaurant gift cards, but I'm having a hard time coming up with other gift card/gift combos. Maybe give the girls gift cards to a spa with some knitted pedicure socks? I'm a Renaissance Crafter, so I'm open to any ideas. Thanks in advance!

How about:
Amazon: bookmarks
Apple: Ipod cosies
Clothing stores: decorated/padded clothes hangers

I hope that helps.

Do you do papercrafts?  An altered altoid tin would hold a gift card and you could consider decorating it for the person instead of the contents.  I made one for my SIL last year based on his love for zombies.  The Amazon gift card is long gone, but he keeps the tin on his desk at work.
