I just saw this on the Best of Craftster 2011 (congratulations!) and what an awesome idea! I had seen spindles made on the cheap before, but they never, ever looked this good! And what a smart idea to use cardboard, I really hadn't considered that, to get a lightweight top whorl spindle. I will have to give this a try!

I would love to do a personal swap for stuff for my lonely, empty walls!

And if we make our own spindle, it will improve our spinning ... right? lol
My fingers are crossed.

LL -  I shared this with a friend who just bought alpacas and wants to learn to spin!  I did a mini lesson with her with one of mullerlanefarm's spindles and thought the High Whorl would be a good second lesson.

Wow, I'm glad I clicked on this thread. I don't know anything about spinning and never looked into it because I always thought you had to have an expensive spinning wheel. I will be studying on this "hand spinning" some more. Great job on them too, so cute!

Thanks! The bangle spindles have taken a beating, since I carry them around with me and spin on them a lot at the park. Still going strong. You'd be surprised how sturdy cardboard can be. Hoping to have the time to make some more spindles soon. If any of you have made spindles, I would love to see them!  Smiley
