oh dear god, complete strangers think my mother is right - I think its best not to encourage the parental units too much... Tongue

Aww, c'mon. Moms need to know they're right, too.

I did the same thing with Tychus that you did - used 4 repeats instead of 5.   I hit the gauge on that one, but found that 5 repeats would've made for one huuuge hat.

I knit one over a day during Christmas vacation and it did indeed make a huge, huge hat (enough that it hid my face entirely when I plunked it on my head, enough that it could easily double as a cat bed for my little cat). I think I'm going to try decreasing the needle size when I try it again rather than cutting out a decrease because it seems to make the hat pointier that I'd want. I do love the colours, though, and the Jayne hat is perfect. I hope my Browncoat roommate doesn't realize that I could knit her one - I have about six things on the needles as it stands!

How can one person be so talented? Your hats are as beautiful as your windows.  Smiley

There is a Jayne "Cunning" Hat thread already here on craftster that has a pattern in it as well as a link to another site's pattern.

I really love the contrast between the transitioning colors and the black in the Tychus hat.  I would have to agree with your mummy that it is reminiscent of stained glass.  There really may be a pattern in your artistic ventures.

So many things fail to interest us, simply because they don't find in us enough surfaces on which to live, and what we have to do then is to increase the number of planes in our mind, so that a much larger number of themes can find a place in it at the same time.

That tychus is reminiscent not only of stained glass but of how I think wizards in the Harry Potter-verse might dress. I mean that in the coolest possible way, because I like your hat.
