I have been in years but as I recall the Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Store is really good.  My friend was there about 2 years ago and she said it is still very good.  Only thing is I think (don't know for sure) they close for the summer.  Also, I remember my mom and I taking SEPTA there.

i go to two GREAT thrift stores.

one's called family thrift on girard and broad (yes, it's a sketchy area of philly, but i live there, and it's...kind of....nice....in the day time).  it's huge and everything is cheap cheap cheap.  they've got clothing, housewares, and tons of linens that you can reuse as various fabrics.

i also go to circle thrift (www.circlethrift.co m) in fishtown.  they've got a really big craft section, due to me.   yes, i'm being snobby, but i used to flirt all the time with the super cute chubby guy that works there and he ended up making a bigger craft section.  if you ask, they also have a huge pile of stuff you can go through in the back room.

oh, and circle thrift is located next to a great cafe called rocket cat cafe.

theres a good thrift store around 8th and 9th on Wolf street in South Philly. really cheap. and good.

retrospect is way too expensive in my opinion.

oh, in westphilly there are four stores under one name- the second mile- at 45th and locust. everything -furniture, houseare, clothes, records, rollerskates, everything

I'm currently attending Eastern University in St. Davids along the Main Line and I've had a rough time finding thrift stores that are really decent.

..of course I'm partial since I go to Circle of Hope East which is upstairs above the shop.
