I made this for the Back to Hogwarts Swap http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=390685.0 .  My partner Pinkleo had this bag pinned in her pinterest and I thought I could try it.  I sew but not a lot and have never sewn a zipper they are a little intimidating. But I gave it a try anyways.

I used burgundy and gold canvas and then hand painted all the patches and crests on.  They took forever but I love how they turned out.

these are the sides

I used this pattern/tutorial to make the bag http://sewing.about.com/od/bagstotespurseproject/ss/dufflebag.htm.  It was so much fun I am definitely going to make more bags now.

Your entire package to pinkleo was amazing! You rock!  Grin Great job on the handpainted crest! When I saw this in the swap thread, I didn't realize it was handpainted and was wondering where you found the patches!  Cheesy

Ditto!  I was wondering where you'd found fabric that already had the patches.  Fantastic job!

This honestly looks store bought to me. When I looked at the first picture, I thought that was the picture of the real thing you were designing after. It looks sooo good.
