When funthreads posted her snack attack quilt back in February, I fell head over heels in love!  Here's the link:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=373162.msg4391903#msg4391903

I started looking for candy and snack fabrics online, ordered a few, then realized I had no clue how to applique or finish a quilt.  However, I had a brand new sewing machine and was determined to make something fabulous and this had inspired me so much.  I sent funthreads basically a crazy fan note telling how inspired I was and she offered to do a personal swap with me for the pattern and some important fabrics so I could make my own.  How generous was that?!  She also included a wonderful 'how to applique' primer so I'd have something to practice on.

The pattern and instructions were very easy to follow and I had the top done within a few months of starting it.  Finishing it required me taking several quilt finishing classes in August at my local sewing studio.  Here's the finished product, as a non-quilter, I'm extremely proud of how it turned out!

And the best part?  I took home 3rd place at my county fair last week!

If you want to try your own snack attack quilt, there's a link to the pattern and tutorial on funthreads' original post above.  The moral of this story is don't be afraid to tell someone you admire their work, they might just help you make your own version.  Thank you so much, funthreads!

Thanks thisbirdsabsurd!  Those big quilt ribbons are awfully nice...  I may be tempted to enter another quilt next year.   Cheesy

That is great! I can't believe that is the first time you have made a quilt. It is beautiful.

Thanks pinkpinkycat!  I forgot to say I made a few log cabin designs about 30 years ago but they were tied (if that's what you call it) not quilted.  This is my first quilted, first applique and first properly finished quilt.
