hey everyone, this year id like to make myself a nice winter hat, and im really interested in doing a slouchy hat like these http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=335006.msg3874192#msg3874192
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=329757.msg3807909#msg3807909

except id like to sew them instead of crocheting them since i dont know how to do that.

ive seen a sewn one kinda like this one http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=341562.msg3962984#msg3962984 it was made using an old sweater and pieced together with triangles kinda like how the third picture look...id like to avoid having so many seams on the hat if possible so i was wondering if you guys know another way of doing it other than piecing the triangle shapes together (ive already found a tutorial for doing it that way, im just hoping for something different, but i will do it that way if needed.)

I found a couple different tutes for you, some similar, some exact. Most would say you want a beret, but here's what I got for ya:

Eddie Cap
Make a Beret
45 Minute Hat
Creative Kindness Beret
Renaissance Hat

Have fun Cheesy

thank-you, i guess it is similar to those "berets"... Ive just always pictured a beret like this http://www.examiner.com/style-in-national/style-101-the-french-beret   every-time Ive seen the slouchy hats they were called slouchy beanies but i can see how they can be alike after doing a Google search for berets. i guess different places kinda adapted the french berets Ive always known.  thanks again Smiley
