*No one tells you that when you're knitting around other people, the phrase 'let me finish this row' will become so common before you can answer someones question or get ready to go out.

It's gotten to the point my family will wait until I"m done with a row and say WAIT! I have a question for you.

Nobody tells you that the farm animals you take care of will make you want to shear them so you can use there fur for yarn.  In turn you learn how to spin.

nobody tellsyou that, in time, your family will stop asking what you're making right now and start asking "what did you make recently?" because they know if they say "what are you making now?" you'll end up answering something along the lines of "scar..ha..cardi..glov..soc...not sure really, I'll know in a few rows...."

right now I'm on a scar...cardi...I think.

No one told me:

-To get two sets of each size of needle. I know you think you'll work on one project at a time, so you only need one set of size fours. I know you think you have control. No, you don't. Buy more.

-Sometimes? Things just go wrong. Sometime the cats chew the ends off all your bamboo needles. Sometimes the gauge is wrong the first five times. Sometimes you need to frog and forget.

*no one tells you that you'll spend your free time just looking up patterns of things you'd like to knit one day and saving them all to your desktop.

(I'm currently sitting at work looking up patterns of things I'd like to knit)

Ravelry is honestly the bane of my life. I have PDFs of knitting patterns to last me a lifetime and yet I keep seeing more!

No one told me that even though I hated dpn's I would end up buying 2 new sets of them because I'm starting to like them.

No one told me that even though I LOVE my harmony wood interchangeable needles I would want a nickel set too because they are a bit quicker and have a sharper point.

No one told me I should have bought the DellaQ 2 interchangeable case instead of the single like I knew I should have.

No one told me I would be this excited about getting my first swift! Yay!!!

thought of another one.. you begin to choose handbags so they can accomodate knitting needles, and also choose needles so they fit existing bags so that public transport knitting is possible.... (just thinking of my 20cm needles sitting in my handbag right now lol)

no one tells you how your face will light up when someone compliments a piece of your work (i figure this applies to knitting, crochet, sewing or any other type of crafting too) giving away the fact that you made it
nor will anyone tell you how good it feels when someone asks where you bought an item and you can say "oh this? i made it." knowing that your's is to only one that's just like it and that it looks good enough to be from a shop
