Can a few of you give me your opinion of doing craft shows without getting a local tax license.  Is it really necessary?  What would happen if I didn't have the license and an official stopped by my booth and asked to see the license (which I wouldn't have)?

I believe it depends on where you live. I live in Mi. and I do craft shows and I don't need one. And have never ever been asked for one. I would ask the coordinator when you sign up and pay for your spot if they require you to have one. They should have all the information you need.

There is one coordinator that has ongoing shows that are set up in a shopping parking lot...October till the end of December. She does have on her vendor agreement that we need to have a tax license.
What I'm asking is ....what if I don't get the license and someone from the city stops by and asks all the vendors to produce a tax license?  What will happen?
