I know this topic has already been posted, but its been years since it was updated.

In South Florida, a lot can change in 6 months, let alone years! It's that time of year again, holidays, holidays, and more holidays. I'm sure everyone's working on Halloween costumes (I sure am), Thanksgiving wreaths, and Christmas presents/decorations galore!

Anyone have any updates on fabric/craftster worthy stores in the Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach counties? I live downtown Fort Lauderdale, and quite frankly, the Joann's in Pompano Beach isn't doing it for me!

(Currently looking for black velour"esque" material that doesn't look cheap for a hooded cloak... without real luck)

Hmm, I do most of my fabric shopping online or at Joann's ... but if you're looking for apparel fabric there are a bunch of shops in downtown Miami that sell it.  I've seen a bunch in and around the Miami-Dade Community College and Federal Court areas.  I do mostly quilting so I haven't visited the shops in quite a while but they may have some velour-esqe fabric.  Good luck!

I haven't been there in a decade, but I recall a lot of unusual and dressy fabrics here:

Ben Raymond Fabrics and Trimmings
1939 Harrison St
Hollywood, FL33020

They have moved, so call to see if this is the latest address. (954) 927-4011

I have also heard about this one:

Arnold's Fabrics n trims
12918 NW 7th Ave
North Miami, FL 33168

Another store where the bolts are piled up on each other, so you may not find the same stuff the next time you go back.
