This is another favorite pattern of mine. You can find it here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetdiva

The pink one is made using tshirt yarn. Now that I've made it in acrylic, I think I prefer it better. For the worsted weight one, I used 4 strands. I used a size "N" hook for the worsted weight one and can't remember which hook for the t-shirt yarn. I'm thinking it was an "N" as well. I started out using a "Q" but it was too big.

I have yet to make anything with Tshirt or plastic bag yarn, but I keep seeing cool things like this!

Is T-shirt yarn really just strips of T-shirts? Or is it a yarn made from recycled T's? If it's the former how do you do it?  I've made pom-poms out of T-shirt fabric. Just cut thin strips. Actually spiraled around from the bottom up to get one really long strand. So it's starting to sound more do-able as I type. Hmmm?

For me it is. I just cut the strips and stretch them. and then connect as I go.
for pics and explanations-

I thought I posted a tutorial here but now I can't find it. Or maybe it was just an explanation.

Good luck if you can cut it in a spiral shape. I wasn't so lucky! lol

I just found this way: http://stephaniehenkel.hubpages.com/hub/Make-Something-from-NothingHow-to-Make-T-Shirt-Rugs
and it actually looks more like something I could handle and it's one long strip when you're done.

Just know that some t-shirts won't stretch and curl nicely. They'll just fray and make a mess. I found if you look closely at the tshirt, if it looks like garter stitch, it will work but if it looks like stockinette stitch, it won't. Learning this tip has saved me money at garage sales, as I once bought a ton of cheap shirts and none of them would work for my rug.

and this way: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/39345/how-to-crochet-a-rug-out-of-t-shirts/page/all
shows another way to connect them. I always pull too hard so it comes apart but I have used this method before. It's nice if you don't want the extra knots!
