For the latest Hoopla round I was partnered with Pixiefirefly, and as soon as I saw her wist, I just knew I had to create this for her. So after a short internet search to find the right image and a few hours traipsing all over Bangkok to try and find just the right colors and about eleventy billion hours of stitching later, this is what emerged!

Originally I was going to use felt to create the iconic Yellow Submarine, but I changed my mind. I think that by using stitches instead of felt it gives the piece a ton of texture. Although I was cursing myself when I was up at 2 am trying to finish before the deadline and my hand was cramping Smiley

I used a combination of backstitch for the outline, and satin stitch, short and long stitch, and row upon row of split stitch for the filling stitches. I think all of the hard work was worth it, and I really love how it turned out. So much so that it was hard to part with it, but I know it has found a good home with Pixiefirefly.

Love this! I think you made the right choice by skipping the felt, the texture on this is wonderful!
