This is a great stained glass supplies site--I linked to the cheapest soldering iron they sell, which I'm pretty sure is the one I have  http://www.warner-criv.com/product.aspx?id=5110-100.  It's actually a little small for leaded glass work, but it still works fine even for that, and it'd be perfect for these small little projects.  Warner-Criv also sells the glass cutters, copper foil, flux, solder.  It's a little more expensive, but I'd recommend getting the lead-free solder if you're making jewelry pieces.  A little solder goes a long way.  A 1-lb spool will last for easily 100s of these little stamp pendants.  You really don't want to be wearing lead next to your skin.   I wear latex gloves working with the lead strips and I still make sure I wash my hands really well before touching anything else.

Writing this post has made me want to go down there and look around (I live less than 10 miles from the actual store--it's in Allentown, PA--if you're anywhere near the area, and interested in this kind of craft, you should check it out.  They have tons of stuff).  Must resist urge to shop.  I have more than enough to keep me busy without hauling home more glass from anywhere.

alycimo, you have no idea how long I've been trying to figure out how to do this! I was on a trip to AK and stumbled into a art gallery and some stuff like this was on display except this chick had stuck pretty cool geisha girls and ninjas in hers. She also wanted like $30 for them. They were cool, but not that cool. Thanks for finally cluing me in, I have a whole book of weird stamp-type things that I had planned on doing this with. Not for postage, I'm really not sure what they're for, I inherited it from an ex, but it has cool stuff like pictures of eyes and typewriters and stuff. Anyway, I'm way too excited and totally grateful!

This is terrific!  I'm definitely making some for the philatelists I know!  Nice tutorial.  I'm not particularly good at soldering, but I think I can manage it.  Thanks!  Smiley

Well, I just love Weekly World News and they often have really cool small photos and strange word combinations. I'll probably make one like that when I get around to it!
