postage stamp necklaces... (tutorial added.)

i just joined today, I've been observing for a week...  You kids rock...
(hopefully i wont post this completely wrong)

I found a giant bag of old and ( sometimes crusty ) stamps at a thrift store.   
I knew they would make great jewelry, but it's has taken me a year to figure it out...







at last.  Success...

HEEY! These are nifty. I like 'em lots. I have a bunch of stamps i've made into earrings... though i'm curious to know how you made these into pendants?
did you just take copper/silver stripy thingy (its like half adhesive and used for stained glass) and solder the outside and the hook on? or did you do something else?

and is the stamp in between two pieces of clear something? or is it just glued on?

That's totally amazing! I have a stamp collection that's just sitting in a box in my closet! This is such an inventive idea.... I would TOTALLY wear those... especially that fish one!

THOSE ARE THE COOLEST NECKLACES I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME!!! EEE!! I've almost totally stopped wearing Jewelry, but I LOVE LOVE those, especially the Goldfish, I'm a goldfish freak. I seriously want to buy it if you want to sell it. PM me with info, also do you have other different goldfish stamps?

Wonderful! I especially like the one that you can see clear to the other side. But, you know, if I had a stamp collection, I might hesitate to "cannibalize" my collection for this (for fear that I would pick the only valuable stamp in the whole thing).....HOWEVER, I wouldn't hesitate to scan them and use them that way.

Also, there's a whole artform of designing your own stamps (Yahoo has at least one group dedicated to make-it-yourself stamp art) and that would be REALLY cool to DIY for this jewelry.

Those are great!  I've been reading all the posts on these trying to figure out how to solder and which gun to get, etc.  What voltage gun do you use and do you use all the flux and stuff or do you get the solder with the flux in it?  I have to admit, I'm really confused about how to solder this stuff.  I think it looks better to have it soldered, though because I'm really bad at putting the copper tape on evenly. 

Any advice on what to purchase to make beautiful creations like these?
