Beware the Platypirates and their tri-corner hats.

Hi all!
I made these a while ago for a swap, and thought they deserved their own thread. (Now that I've gotten around to it). They're inspired by some shoes someone else painted that were on her wist, but for the life of me I can't find it anymore.

The words in red say "It's not flying, it's falling with style!"

My partner was a big fan of Toy Story, and Buzz and Bo were among her favorite characters. I decided to paint a shoe to represent each, but still have them match. I decided I could paint the tongues of the shoes in a pattern for the characters, and I painted the outside blue with clouds like Andy's wallpaper in the movie.

I used standard fabric paint on a pair of new white converse mockups that I found for under $10 at goodwill. I wound up sealing them with the only thing I had, Design Master Super Surface Sealer. I'm not sure if that did the trick since I sent them away without testing them, but I think it helped protect the pattern. I'm doubtful they're fully waterproof, but they should hold up in mildly wet weather.

Thanks for looking, and for C&C!

Whatever happened to the ongoing hoopla swaps?

These are super awesome. I especially like the patterns you put on the tongues! Your partner was a lucky gal Wink
