i've never done it,.. but my first guess would be to take it apart(remove the front plate'n'stuff)  and spraypaint it?

Nail polish works well. If you can take off your face plate, get some wet and wild polish at the drug store and go to town!

I think they make paints for plastic & then you could always shellac it or coat it with clear. Of course remove the face plate.

i found a tutorial on G4 about modifying cell phones, they say that model paints work best because they're designed to adhere to plastic, also if you want to fill in the bumps/ridges use some sort of filler/compound and sand it smooth. the paint also takes about 2 days to fully dry and up to 30 - 60 days to fully cure but is usable. also a good thing, model paint comes in a really wide range of colors.

don't even bother with acrylic paint unless you have some sort of varnish to seal it(i'm guessing) acrylics scrape off really smooth surfaces easily.

That's what I was going to say... my hubby builds model cars and the paint comes in a huge variety of colors... this is your best bet, cause you can paint detailed pics if you get tiny brushes. The paint will stick to the phone for sure. You can get it at any model/hobbie store, but I know the Wal Mart in Canada has it, too. The american ones should as well.
