You mentioned you adjusted the pattern a little on the black border rounds... I am about to begin this project, and would like to know what you had to change before I start.  Thanks.   Smiley

Thank you all for the kind words! Cheesy

You mentioned you adjusted the pattern a little on the black border rounds... I am about to begin this project, and would like to know what you had to change before I start.  Thanks.   Smiley

I didn't write down exactly what I did, and I no longer have the afghan so I can't tell you stitch by stitch... but I found that my motifs required three black rounds, not two (as written), to get a solid square shape without any warping. In the first two black rounds, I included some strategic placements of HDCs and SCs, so that I only used DCs in between the corner motifs (to build up height between corner motifs, and add as little height as possible to the outside corners of each motif).

I hope that helps, at least a little! I would recommend working one block all the way from start to finish and experimenting a little bit on the border rounds to see what works best with your gauge and yarn, and then emulating that on the other squares you do.

This is gorgeous! I am making an afghan and I'm worried that the recipient wont like the chunky texture... I may have to add a fleece backing but that means it definitely wont be done in time for this birthday Sad
