This is a crochet Gordan the Train from Thomas and Friends. Gordan was my son Max's favorite train at the time. This was one of the first crochet projects I ever did with no pattern. His face and other details are done in felt and his wheels have plastic canvas disks inside to help them hold their shape. He's also really big. Maybe 2 feet long.

Being used as a pillow by Max:

Max still sleeps with him most nights and he's actually help up rather well. A year and a half later all I've had to do was reattach one wheel.

Awesome! I've been working on a Thomas myself and I got to ask, what color/yarn did you use because I've been driving myself nuts trying to find the right blue. I bought something but I've been putting off starting that part because I'm still not sure it's right.

It's been awhile, but I'm almost sure it was Red Heart Soft Yarn in teal blue. Like here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/70399947/red-heart-soft-yarn-teal-blue-medium

I actually just took his wooden Gordan train from his train table and roamed the yarn aisles holding it up until I got close enough, which was pretty darn close in the end. Good luck!

Drat! I almost bought that and changed my mind at the last minute. I've been doing something similar, but I can't get a good picture. And all the books in Michael's are Halloween books so they're all too dark. Thanks!

Both my boys are HUGE Thomas fans. They would love this. Do you mind me asking where you got the pattern? Or if you created it?

I looked for a decent train pattern but couldn't find one, so this one is straight from my head. I don't remember exact stitch counts, but I could tell you how I went about it if you like.
