These are the pieces I've been working on this summer. I am a bit leaf obsessed...
I started with leaves out of my garden zucchini, squash and cucumber specifically -

Then I moved on to using smaller more varied leaves with slip on the background:

And finally the most adventurous pieces to date.

I had a larger version of this one, but it fell apart because it dried unevenly.

This is my favorite so far, I blended 3 different shades of stoneware clay on this one.

Leaves and pottery just seem to go together so well. The vase is lovely, but I must admit a great fondness for ferns.

Beautifully well done pieces, and it is great you used real leaves to create the piece. Also like that you used earth tones for the glazes.

Your work is gorgeous!
You are clearly very talented.

I also love the second one best.
Because it has that mix of the natural look mixed with the look of worn leather.

Thank you so much for your kind comments!  I have to say - leaves themselves are just so intricate and beautiful all I do is smash them into a slab, stain it and glaze them clear in most cases.

I go to a really fantastic studio where we all kind of feed off of each others ideas. One of us started mixing different colors of clay, then another started playing with slip, we all brought in different kinds of leaves. We're all looking up new techniques on youtube and in books and sharing them with each other. It's really an amazing experience - I wish everyone of you could come and play in the clay with us!

There is nothing wrong with obsessing over leaves and twiggy things :O) I adore them too. Your pottery is just beautiful!!!! The leaves are perfect. What a great post for what feels like the first day of Autumn. Gorgeous work!
