As a poor college kid, I decided to make cross stitch presents for my family/friends this year.  These are the first two I've completed.  I'm working on a nyan cat and possibly some sugar skulls if I can get around to finishing them before Christmas... typical.

 my little sister draws lots of little comics and signs them 'catkid.'  I thought she'd like this little hello kitty.  Somewhere, deep at the heart of google, I found a terribly tiny picture of a hello kitty somebody had made that looked similar to this one, and that's where I found my inspiration for it.

My mom is a huge Stephen Colbert fan, and watches his show religiously.  I'm iffy on the border I used on the left and right sides, but I used a weird scrap of fabric to make this bookmark so I didn't have enough space to put stars there as well.
