The Beekeeper's Quilt Knitalong

It looks really neat, but I'm just wondering if they knit up quick. I've practically fallen in love with the pattern though, so I'll probably give it a try anyways.

I can get one done (including the stuffing) during an average 43 min tv episode.

I heard about this from a knitter friend of mine. For about a month she just kept going on about her Beekeeper's Quilt. All I could think was, "I had no idea you knew how to quilt." I finally got around to checking Rav for it and there it was. When I saw the featured pictures I thought, "That's insane. No way." But it was like a lava lamp and I just couldn't stop staring and within another few minutes I was like, "that's it, I'm casting on!"

I'm one of the people whose decided to make one large image though.

Looks like I deleted the pictures I had of my puffs from the computer and my cell phone is no more (it's what I usually take pictures with) but for those of you who have Rav here's the direct link to my Beekeeper's project page.

I decided instead of doing a blanket I am going to make a chair cushion for my niece they live in TX so I don't think she really needs a blanket. I making a cushion for myself first as a prototype & then I will make hers. Hers will take a bit more time due to the fact my sister is allergic to wool so I need to use a different yarn.

I thought this was dumb.. but then I started knitting socks and have nothing to do with those tiny bits of sock yarn left over so hexipuffs it is. Plus it's amazingly fun to say! Hexipuff, hexipuff... I sound like a pokemon! Also, idea!!! Going to use these to make pixelated images of pokemon, zelda, mario and other 8 bit characters because this seems like so much more fun than granny squares. Woot!

Here is my little pile of hexapuffs so far.   I love making them - so cute and squishy.  I just hope that I can manage to make enough for a decent sized quilt.

I still haven't bought the pattern.  But it's definitely on my to do list for 2012.  I just have to get through Christmas crafting first, before I start on this project!

Turns out I didn't want to do these on my interchangeable 3.5mm so I bought myself some new 3.5mm dpn's and some mini skeins just for this. Can't wait to get started! I'm going to do at least one puff for each pair of socks I knit. It might take me a while to get enough for a blanket since that's a lot of socks to make but we'll see. I love my socks and sock yarn too much to just make it into puffs.
